CASPER - North Sea Coast

Alright, let's talk about Casper. It’s not your typical picturesque reef dive, that’s for sure, but for us, this North Sea wreck has a certain stark beauty. Sunk in '67, she’s properly settled into the sandy seabed at a consistent 5m, making for a truly accessible wreck experience. We’ve always found Casper to be one of those sites that rewards a slow, deliberate dive. You’re exploring the skeleton of a working vessel here, the metalwork slowly dissolving and becoming one with the sand. Visibility is, well, it’s the North Sea, so don’t expect the Caribbean. But on a good day, when the light penetrates through the chop, you can spend a solid hour poking around the scattered debris field. Our favourite moments are usually spent watching the crabs scuttling amongst the twisted metal, or spotting the occasional flatfish camouflaged against the rust-coloured hull. It’s a dive for those who appreciate history and the quiet colonisation of man-made objects by marine life, rather than vibrant coral. Ideal for newer divers looking for their first wreck, or photographers wanting to play with ambient light and texture.
