DEFENSOR - North Sea Coast

The Defensor. Oh, she’s a beauty for wreck lovers, sitting upright and very shallow, just 6 metres down off the North Sea Coast. We love how accessible she is, perfect for longer bottom times and really soaking in the atmosphere. You’ll find her mostly intact, a ghostly silhouette of a fishing trawler that met its end, and the deckhouse is still there to explore, giving you a real sense of her working life. Schools of cod and pollock often drift through the wheelhouse, treating it like their own private apartment, and we’ve seen some surprisingly colourful nudibranchs clinging to the railings. Visibility can be a bit of a gamble here, thanks to the North Sea, so pick a calm day with minimal swell for the best experience. Our favourite thing is just how much history you can feel in the metal, knowing a crew once walked these decks, now completely reclaimed by the sea.
