DZENES - North Sea Coast

Dzenes isn't your typical colourful reef dive, and that's precisely why we love it. This isn't a deep dive, sitting at a shallow 6 metres, but it offers a surprisingly rich experience. The wreck itself is a schooner, now broken but still holds enough structure to feel like a proper wreck dive. What really makes it special for us is the way the North Sea has taken it back. You'll find the timbers encrusted with mussels and barnacles, and we've often seen crabs scuttling over the hull plates. Visibility here can be a bit variable, typical of the North Sea, but when it’s good, the Dzenes provides a moody, atmospheric dive. We’d suggest aiming for a slack tide to really explore without fighting the current. Look closely in the nooks and crannies of the deck; we've consistently found small lobsters tucked away. This site is perfect for those who appreciate history and the unique beauty of temperate wrecks rather than just tropical fish.
