FINN MELFI - North Sea Coast

The Finn Melfi might be shallow, just 2 metres deep, but that's exactly why we love it. This isn't a site for deep exploration, it’s a living history lesson, especially for new divers or anyone wanting a relaxed dive with plenty to see. The motor vessel went down in 1973, and now its 40-metre hull is home to a surprising amount of life. We often find schools of small fish darting in and out of the exposed superstructure, and the whole wreck is encrusted with anemones and mussels. We’d suggest going at high tide for the best visibility; it can get a bit silty otherwise. You can spend a good hour just circling the wreck, peeking into the wheelhouse remains, imagining its final journey from Nykobing to Odense. The light penetrates easily, illuminating all the nooks and crannies where crabs like to hide. It's a fantastic spot for photographers too, especially on a sunny day when the light dances on the metal. This wreck proves you don't need depth for a captivating dive.
