HAVORNEN - North Sea Coast

The Havornen, a dredger that went down in 1944, sits upright and fairly intact at 15 metres. We love it because it’s got that classic wreck vibe – plenty of structure to explore without being overly complex. You can follow the length of the hull, spotting parts of the superstructure, and the whole thing has become home to a decent collection of North Sea critters. Expect to see schools of cod weaving through the exposed beams and nooks, with wrasse darting around the edges. Crabs scuttle over the metal, and if you look closely, you might spot a blenny peering out from a crevice. Visibility here can be temperamental; it’s the North Sea, after all. We’d suggest aiming for a calm day and checking local reports before heading out. It’s a great dive for anyone comfortable with wreck penetration, though you don’t need to go inside to appreciate its character. Our favourite part is lingering over the bow, imagining the vessel in its working days, now transformed into an artificial reef.
