HMS Lutine - North Sea Coast

Forget what you think you know about North Sea wreck diving. The Lutine isn't just a pile of scattered timbers; it’s a portal. When we drop down, the water often feels cold, but that quickly fades as the wreck starts to materialise. We love the way the ship’s cannons still stand sentinel, half-buried in the sand, and the sheer scale of the hull remains. It really hits you – this was a warship, not just some merchantman. Visibility can be a gamble out here, but on a good day, when the light penetrates, you can make out the structure of the bow and stern, often cloaked in thick colonies of plumose anemones that sway with the surge. Our favourite part is navigating the deeper sections, where the hold might still reveal an artefact or two. It's a dive for those who appreciate history and don’t mind a bit of a challenge. Keep an eye out for inquisitive conger eels peeking from the shadows, and the occasional cod patrolling the deeper sections of the wreck. Dive it on a slack tide for the best chance to really explore.
