HMS Queen Mary - North Sea Coast

The HMS Delight, a D-class destroyer sunk in 1932, is one of those wrecks that really grabs you. We love how the strong currents, sometimes a bit of a wrestle, have opened up the hull, making for some dramatic swim-throughs. You’re not just looking at a wreck here, you’re often inside it, navigating corridors where the light filters down through gaps in the plating. Our favourite part is the engine room, surprisingly intact, with gauges and machinery still visible, almost like the crew just stepped away. Around the propeller shafts, we’ve often found conger eels tucked into crevices, some truly massive specimens. Keep an eye out for inquisitive thornback skates cruising over the deck guns too; they seem quite used to divers. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss, typical for the UK, but on a good day, the sheer scale of the Delight is impressive. This is a dive for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate history and don’t mind a bit of a challenge.
