HMS Seal - North Sea Coast

Okay, so the SS Westfalen. If you’re diving the Swedish west coast, this is one we always recommend. It's a proper steamship, and not just any old hulk; she went down in 1930 and sits upright, pretty much intact, which is always our favourite kind of wreck. Descending onto her, you can still feel the scale of the ship, particularly the towering bow, often shrouded in a light current. We love exploring the engine room, which is accessible to experienced wreck divers – the machinery is still very much there, a real trip back in time. Around the superstructure, you'll often find wolf-fish peeking out from dark corners, and the hull is covered in those Hairy Sea-mats, giving it a surprisingly soft, fuzzy texture in some places. Keep an eye out for common sea stars clinging to the railings, and sometimes you'll even spot a common dragonet darting away. Visibility can be a bit variable, but on a good day, the natural light filtering through the open decks creates some dramatic scenes. It’s a dive that really suits those with some wreck experience looking for a deeper, more atmospheric exploration.
