HOLST NORDIA - North Sea Coast

The MV Holst Nordia isn't some pristine, intact museum piece. This is a proper North Sea wreck, scattered and broken, a testament to the weather that claimed her. She grounded and then broke up, leaving a jumble of twisted metal at 14 metres. We love exploring the debris field, where sections of hull and superstructure lie at odd angles. It feels like picking through a giant metal puzzle. The real beauty here is how the North Sea has reclaimed her. The wreck acts as an artificial reef, attracting everything from crabs scuttling in the shadows to schools of cod weaving through the exposed girders. Visibility can be hit or miss, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, the light filters down, illuminating the dark recesses. Our favourite tip? Go on a slack tide. The currents can be tricky otherwise, and you want time to really poke around the engine room remains and imagine the ship's final moments. It's a dive for those who appreciate history and the raw power of the sea, rather than colourful corals.
