INGEBORG - North Sea Coast

The Ingebourg, a fishing vessel resting at 23 metres, isn’t about big pelagics or colourful reefs. This is North Sea diving, pure and simple, and we absolutely love it for its character. Dropping down, you’ll find her relatively intact for a smaller wreck, 17 metres of steel colonised by the sea. Expect to spend your dive exploring the wheelhouse, seeing how the deck gear has fused with the seabed, and peering into her hold. It’s the small details here that really make the dive: the way the light filters through the structure on a good day, illuminating the dense congregations of plumose anemones, or the sudden dart of a wrasse from behind a twisted piece of metal. Conger eels often peer out from crevices, and the sheer volume of small crabs scuttling across the deck can be surprising. We’d suggest a slow, deliberate exploration, perhaps even two dives, to really appreciate the way the wreck has become an artificial reef. This site is perfect for those who appreciate history and the quiet beauty of a wreck dive, rather than a frantic hunt for something exotic. Bring good lights; the ambient light can be low, even on a sunny day.
