INGER KLIT - North Sea Coast

The **Inger Klit** is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you, even if you’re used to the usual North Sea suspects. It’s not the deepest dive, sitting at a comfortable 27 metres, but the story behind it, sinking after a collision in thick fog in the Flensburg Fjord, gives it a certain melancholic charm. We’ve found the bow section to be particularly atmospheric, often with a gloomy light filtering down, adding to the drama. It's a proper schooner, 38.7 metres long, and while she’s been down since 1980, the structure is still remarkably intact in places. You can swim around the deck and peer into what would have been cargo holds, now home to all sorts of critters. We always spot flatfish nestled into the sand nearby, and the occasional cod will eye you from the shadows. Keep an eye out for the resident crabs too, scuttling over the timbers. The visibility can be a bit variable, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, it’s a beautiful, if sombre, exploration. It’s a dive for those who appreciate maritime history and don’t mind a bit of genuine grit with their wreck diving.
