KE 211 - North Sea Coast

KE 211 might only be two metres deep, but don't let the shallowness fool you. This isn't a snorkel spot, this is a legitimate wreck dive, and one we absolutely love. She’s a small fishing vessel, settled upright on the sandy bottom, and her mast still reaches towards the surface, a ghostly finger pointing to the grey North Sea sky. The limited depth means you get an incredible amount of bottom time to really explore her, tracing the deck lines, peering into the small wheelhouse, and imagining the lives of the fishermen who worked her. What really makes KE 211 sing for us is how quickly marine life has adopted her. Crabs scuttle across the hull, nudibranchs graze on the algae, and often you’ll find small schools of juvenile fish sheltering in the nooks and crannies. It’s an ideal spot for macro photography or for divers who want to practise their wreck penetration skills in a very forgiving environment. We’d suggest a calm day for the best visibility, which can be surprisingly good here, sometimes pushing 10 metres. Keep an eye out for flatfish half-buried in the sand around her, too. They blend in remarkably well.
