KLAUS ANKER - North Sea Coast

The Klaus Anker isn't deep, only 8 metres, but it offers a genuinely engaging dive. We love the way this old fishing vessel has become a home for so much life since it went down in 1967. The wreck itself is reasonably intact, especially the stern section, which is our favourite part to explore. You can peer into the holds and imagine the catches they once held, now filled with flatfish and the occasional lobster peeking out from under a plate. Visibility can be a bit variable here, it is the North Sea after all, but on a good day, the light filtering down through the green water gives the wreck a really atmospheric feel. The deck is carpeted in anemones and small nudibranchs, and schools of juvenile cod often hover just above the structure. It’s a fantastic site for photographers keen on macro subjects or anyone who appreciates the subtle beauty of a wreck slowly succumbing to the sea. Dive it at slack tide for the easiest conditions, and you'll get the most out of your bottom time.
