KONGSMARK - North Sea Coast

Kongsmark, sitting in just four metres of water off the North Sea coast, is a proper shallow water adventure. We love this site for its accessibility and the sheer amount of history you can practically touch. This was a merchant vessel, sunk in the final days of WWII, and while it's spread out across the seabed, the wreckage still forms substantial sections. You can poke around bulkheads and scattered plating, imagining the ship in its prime. Visibility here can be a bit variable, typical of the North Sea, but when it’s good, the light penetration into the scattered metal creates some beautiful scenes. Our favourite is spotting the massive schools of juvenile cod that often hover over the larger pieces of debris, darting in and out of the shadows. It's a fantastic spot for newer wreck divers to get a feel for exploring history, or for photographers looking for interesting light and texture, just be ready for a bit of a scramble if the surge picks up.
