LIMFJORDEN - North Sea Coast

The Limfjorden wreck isn't deep, topping out at 16m, but don't let that fool you. This isn’t a leisurely drift over a reef. The Limfjorden is an old fishing vessel, sunk back in '69, and she’s a proper gnarly wreck. We’d classify her as dangerous, honestly, with plenty of snag points and collapsing sections, so good buoyancy and a drysuit are non-negotiable here. What we love about her, though, is how she’s completely given herself back to the sea. The deckhouse is largely gone, but the hull remains, a skeletal structure that’s become home to a surprising amount of life. Expect to find conger eels tucked into every dark corner, their heads poking out like grumpy old men. We’ve seen huge plaice camouflaged perfectly against the sand nearby, and the occasional cod patrols the broken remains of the fishing gear. Our favourite part is navigating the low visibility, often just a couple of metres, using the wreck itself as a guide. It makes for an atmospheric dive, a real journey into a forgotten piece of history. This is one for the wreck hounds, those who appreciate the quiet decay and the thrill of discovery in often challenging conditions. If you’re looking for pristine coral, you’re in the wrong ocean, but if you want a proper wreck dive with character, Limfjorden delivers.
