MIGNON - North Sea Coast

Mignon, off Denmark’s North Sea coast, isn't your typical coral-encrusted Caribbean wreck. This is a trawler, sunk in 1978, lying in a modest 10 metres. We love it for its accessibility and the way it connects you to the raw fishing history of the North Sea. You'll find the Mignon surprisingly intact, lying on its starboard side, which makes for some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. The wheelhouse is a favourite spot, often swarming with small cod and blennies darting into every crevice. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery; on a good day, you'll get 10-15 metres, but it's often less, which just adds to the atmospheric gloom of the wreck. We'd suggest diving it at slack tide to avoid any strong currents. It’s a fantastic site for newer wreck divers looking to gain some experience without too much depth or for photographers who appreciate the melancholic beauty of a working vessel reclaimed by the sea.
