MTB1 motor torpedo boat - North Sea Coast

The MTB1 is one of those wrecks we keep coming back to. We’re talking about a proper piece of history here, a former German motor torpedo boat, sunk deliberately during target practice. It lies broken in two, but that just adds to its character. You can still make out the torpedo tubes, which always gives us a bit of a thrill. We love exploring the bow section, especially if the visibility is playing ball; you can often see the anchor chain still draped over the side. The local cod and pollock seem to appreciate the shelter, and if you’re lucky, you’ll spot a wolfish tucked away somewhere. It’s a relatively shallow wreck, making it accessible for most divers, but the North Sea can be a bit moody, so pick your day carefully. We’d suggest going in late summer for the best chance of settled conditions.
