NEPTUNUS - North Sea Coast

Diving the Neptunus feels like stepping back into a cold war history book, but underwater. This old dredger, sunk in 1946, is a shallow delight, sitting bolt upright at just 6 meters. We love it because it’s a proper wreck dive without the need for deep diving certs or long deco stops. You can spend a good chunk of your bottom time exploring the skeletal remains, the hull largely intact, draped in green algae and anemones. Visibility here can be a bit of a lottery, typical for the North Sea, but when it’s good, the light penetrates beautifully, illuminating schools of cod that weave through the broken superstructure. Look closely and you’ll find crabs tucked into crevices, and flatfish camouflaged against the sandy seabed near the wreck. Our favourite part? Peeking into what would have been the engine room, a dark maw now home to conger eels. It’s perfect for newer wreck divers or anyone who appreciates a piece of maritime history they can actually explore on a single tank. We'd suggest going at slack tide, as currents can pick up and make finning a bit of a workout.
