NORDSTJERNEN - North Sea Coast

The Nordstjernen isn’t just another hunk of metal on the seabed, it’s a time capsule. We found her in fantastic condition for a North Sea wreck at 29 metres, still very much a recognisable cutter. What makes her special for us is that sense of a sudden stop in time. One minute she was sailing, the next, she wasn't, and you can still feel that when you swim along her decks. You’ll find her upright, largely intact, with the mast lying across the deck. We love exploring the bow, where the anchor chain still runs out, disappearing into the sand. Schools of cod hang about the wheelhouse, and we often spot conger eels poking their heads from under collapsed sections. The visibility here can be challenging, typical for the North Sea, but when it clears, even to 5-10 metres, the atmosphere is incredible. Go on a slack tide, otherwise, you'll be working hard. This wreck suits divers who appreciate history and don't mind a bit of a low-viz adventure.
