NYBORG - North Sea Coast

Nyborg is a proper piece of history resting just off the Danish coast, a merchant vessel that met its end back in 1940. At only four metres, it's a dive that just about anyone can enjoy, and it’s a brilliant introduction to wreck diving. We love that you can spend a solid hour poking around without ever feeling rushed or getting cold. The stern is our favourite part, still remarkably intact, with the rudder and propeller easily identifiable, now all draped in green algae that sways gently with the tide. Visibility can be a bit variable here, so we’d suggest aiming for a calm day, ideally after a few days of settled weather. Even if it’s a bit murky, the sheer scale of the Nyborg still offers plenty to explore as you trace her lines through the gloom. You’ll find plenty of small crabs scuttling over the plates, and often schools of juvenile cod darting in and out of the darker spaces. It’s a great spot for honing your buoyancy and getting a real feel for how the sea reclaims these old iron beasts.
