PREGEL - North Sea Coast

The PREGEL isn't your typical colourful reef dive, but we think it’s a brilliant shallow wreck for divers who appreciate history and macro life. Sitting at a mere 4 metres on the North Sea coast, it's easily accessible and offers a surprising amount to explore without deep decompression limits. You’ll find the remains of a German steamship, torpedoed in 1945, now scattered and broken, but full of character. We’ve spent hours poking around the collapsed hull plates and twisted metal. It’s not one big intact structure, more like a fascinating junk pile. We love how the metal has become a canvas for life; look closely and you’ll spot anemones, nudibranchs, and crabs tucked into every crevice. Visibility can be a bit variable here, as you’d expect from a shallow coastal site, so we always check the conditions before heading out. Our favourite time to dive PREGEL is on a calm day with an incoming tide – it often brings in clearer water and makes for a more relaxed experience. It's a perfect site for photographers focusing on the smaller stuff or anyone wanting a relaxed, shallow dive with a story.
