RAGNHILD - North Sea Coast

Ragnhild sits in the relatively shallow waters off the North Sea Coast, just 10 metres down. It's a real favourite of ours for a relaxed wreck dive. The ship itself, a former cargo vessel, now lies broken but mostly intact, her hull plates spread across the sandy seabed. We love how accessible it is; the shallow depth means long bottom times and plenty of light filtering down, even on a cloudy day. What you’ll find is a wreck absolutely draped in life. Cod patrol the darker corners of the hold, and we've spotted some surprisingly large flatfish tucked into the sand near the propeller shaft. Crabs scuttle in and out of the twisted metal, and the occasional lobster peeks from beneath a fallen bulkhead. It’s not a dive for massive pelagics, but rather an intimate look at how a man-made structure becomes a vibrant habitat. Our top tip: dive it on an incoming tide. The visibility tends to be at its best then, and the light play through the water column on the upper sections of the wreck is fantastic.
