Why dive here
With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - RIGMOR offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The *Rigmor* is one of those wrecks that really sticks with you, a proper historical piece lying in about 24 metres. We’re talking a small cargo steamer, sunk in 1953 after hitting a mine, and she’s remarkably intact for her age and the North Sea conditions. You can still make out the superstructure, the engine room, and even the stern gun platform, which is a real highlight for us. The hull is blanketed in plumose anemones, brilliant white against the gloomy steel, and the holds are now home to fat cod and ling that drift lazily through the openings. Penetration is possible for experienced wreck divers, though we’d always advise caution given the age and potential for silt. Visibility here can be a bit variable, so pick a calm day, ideally after a few days of settled weather, for the best chance of seeing the whole wreck. It's a fantastic dive for anyone who appreciates a bit of history and the hardy marine life that colonises these old ships.
