Why dive here
With 95+ marine species recorded in the area - including seals & sea lions, sea turtles and jellyfish lake - STANDARD offers some of North Sea Coast's richest wreck diving. Water ranges 3-19°C, warmest July, August, September.
The *Standard* sits at 18 metres, a steamship that went down in 1941. We’ve found it’s a good wreck for those looking for something a bit less picked over than some of the more famous sites in the area. Visibility can be a bit of a mixed bag, as it often is in the North Sea, but when it’s good, you can make out the vessel's general outline. Expect to see plenty of cod and flatfish hunkering down amongst the scattered debris, alongside the occasional crab scuttling across the metal plates. It’s a solid dive for experienced cold-water wreck enthusiasts who appreciate the history more than pristine visibility.
