TOMMY LAILA - North Sea Coast

Tommy Laila. Sounds almost romantic, doesn’t it? Don’t let the name fool you. This North Sea wreck, a former cutter, feels rugged, exposed, and typically Danish. We love that it’s still relatively intact at 23 metres, sitting upright on the seabed. You can often make out the wheelhouse, and the outline of the deck is clear, even when visibility is playing games. What we really enjoy here is the resident fish life. Cod and pollock have made themselves at home, darting between the broken plating. Sometimes you’ll even spot a feisty crab scuttling across the deck. It’s not a vibrant coral spectacle, but it’s a living piece of history. This site suits divers who appreciate the atmospheric pull of a wreck and don’t mind a bit of a current. Our tip? Go on a slack tide, if you can time it, to really take in the details. You’ll hear the creaks and groans of the wreck in the movement of the water, a truly immersive experience.
