URANIA H 1011 - North Sea Coast

The Urania H 1011 isn't your typical pretty wreck dive, but we love it for its raw history. Lying at 27 metres, this old fishing vessel was sunk in 1944. There's a real sense of its story down there. It’s a proper piece of submerged history, and we think that's what makes it special. You’ll find the wreck broken in places, which opens up some interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. Keep an eye out for the resident cod, they’re usually quite bold, and you’ll often spot crabs scuttling over the hull plates. Visibility in the North Sea can be temperamental, so we always suggest checking the local conditions before heading out. Our favourite time to dive it is on a calm, sunny morning; the light filtering through the green water really highlights the wreck's structure. This dive suits those who appreciate historical wrecks over colourful reefs and don’t mind cooler water. It’s a dive that makes you think, not just look.
