V.P.6507 - North Sea Coast

We love V.P.6507 for its palpable sense of history. It's a proper wreck dive, sitting upright at 18 metres, and what you’ll find is a patrol boat that saw active service, now completely given over to the sea. The superstructure is still remarkably intact, offering some genuinely interesting penetration opportunities if you’re properly trained and equipped; we often poke our heads into what would have been the wheelhouse, imagining the cold North Sea back in wartime. Visibility here can swing wildly, but on a good day, when the light filters down, the wreck takes on an almost ghostly appearance. Ballan wrasse dart in and out of the plating, and you’ll find good-sized cod often lurking in the deeper shadows of the hull. We usually find crabs scuttling across the deck plates and anemones blooming from every available surface. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, taking in the details of a vessel frozen in time. Our pick for best conditions is typically late summer and early autumn; the water is a little warmer and often a touch clearer.
