VIVIAN - North Sea Coast

Vivian isn't about deep blue adventures or schools of pelagics; it’s a peek into North Sea history, right on the doorstep. This is a genuinely shallow wreck, sitting in just 3 metres of water, perfect for an extended snorkel or a long, easy dive on a calm day. We love that it’s so accessible, meaning even newer divers can spend ages exploring the remains of this old boat, which went down due to a leak back in 1951. What you'll find here is a slowly disintegrating wooden hull, now completely colonised by the local ecosystem. Look for gobies darting between the ribs and crabs scuttling under collapsed planks. The timbers are encrusted with anemones, waving gently in the surge, and thick patches of seaweed create little hideaways for blennies. Visibility can be a bit hit or miss, typical for the North Sea, but on a good day, with the sun filtering through the shallows, the light plays beautifully on the wreck. Our favourite time to visit is on a slack tide, maybe an hour after high water, when the currents ease up and you can really take your time examining the details. This site suits anyone looking for a relaxed dive with a touch of local history, rather than a thrilling drop-off.
