WILHELMINE FALKENBERG - North Sea Coast

The WILHELMINE FALKENBERG isn't one of those wrecks that jumps out at you with dramatic structure, but we love it for its quiet charm and the history it holds. This yacht, lost in a collision, now lies in a relatively shallow 14 metres, making it a relaxed dive for anyone comfortable with North Sea conditions. We’ve found the visibility here can vary wildly, from a murky six metres to a surprisingly decent fifteen, so pick your day carefully, ideally after a long spell of calm weather. What you get is a broken but recognisable hull, heavily colonised by soft corals and anemones. The wreck is quite spread out, so it’s less about penetration and more about exploring the debris field, poking around for the crabs and lobsters that have made it home. Keep an eye out for the large schools of cod and pollock that often hover above the deeper sections of the wreck, almost like they’re guarding it. It’s a site that rewards a slow, methodical approach, allowing you to really soak in the atmosphere of this historical casualty rather than just ticking off features.
