Wreck of Ondo - North Sea Coast

The Finnbirch, a roll-on/roll-off cargo ship, went down in 2006, which makes it a fairly recent wreck. That means it’s still very much a ship, not just a pile of metal. We love the bridge. It’s practically intact, an eerie time capsule, and you can still see some of the controls and equipment. Descending feels like stepping into a ghost story. The currents here can be a real challenge, though. We’d suggest a strong surface marker buoy and a good reel are non-negotiable. Visibility isn't always fantastic, maybe 10-15 metres on a good day, but the sheer size of the Finnbirch makes up for it. Look for the massive propeller and rudder, often swarming with cod. The cargo holds are massive, perfect for penetration if you’re properly trained and equipped. It's a proper adventure dive, certainly not for beginners, but rewarding for experienced wreck enthusiasts who appreciate a relatively fresh wreck.
