Buceo La Vieja - Canary Islands

You know, sometimes the best dive centres aren't the flashy ones with all the bells and whistles. Buceo La Vieja, just off Las Canteras Beach, is exactly that kind of place. Juan Carlos and Yemi have built something genuinely special here, a real family feel that makes you want to hang around for a post-dive coffee and chat. We love that they really focus on making you feel comfortable, especially if you’re a bit rusty or new to the whole Canary Islands diving scene. Their PADI courses are thorough, but never rushed, which we appreciate. For us, the real draw is their local knowledge. They know the dive sites like the back of their hand, which means you get taken to the spots that are firing on any given day, not just the usual tourist traps. We’ve had some cracking dives with them, spotting angel sharks tucked into the sand and watching cuttlefish change colour right before our eyes. It’s personal, professional, and genuinely welcoming – a tough combination to beat.
