Scuba Sur Gran Canaria - Canary Islands
The team at Scuba Sur Gran Canaria gets our vote for their approach to diving the island's often-overlooked south coast. They’re less about the big boat trips and more about intimate group dives, usually just two divers to an instructor, which we really appreciate. If you’re looking to get certified, or just want to explore some new spots without feeling like you’re on a cattle boat, these guys are an excellent choice. We love their commitment to smaller groups. It means you actually get to ask questions, work on skills, and generally feel a bit more relaxed, whether you're taking your Open Water or just on a guided fun dive. Their location at Anfi del Mar is pretty convenient too, just a short boat ride to some interesting volcanic topography. Expect to see plenty of cuttlefish hunkering down, moray eels peeking from crevices, and big schools of bream shimmering in the light. The water can be surprisingly cool, especially in winter, so a decent 5mm suit is always a good idea. They’ve been around for over 20 years, and that experience shines through in their local knowledge and calm demeanour, even when a bit of current picks up. Our favourite tip: ask them about their early morning dives, when the light is softer and the reef is just waking up.
