HANSEN (POSSIBLY) - Tobago

The wreck we call Hansen (Possibly) might not be a deep dive, but it’s packed with character. This old barge, sunk way back in 1975 during a gale, sits in a shallow six metres of water. We love it for how much light penetrates, really showing off the wreck's structure and the corals that have firmly taken root. You can easily spend an hour tracing its outline, spotting moray eels tucked into crevices and parrotfish grazing on the growth. It’s an ideal spot if you’re into wreck photography or just want a relaxed, long bottom time. We’d suggest going in the morning; the sun angle is perfect then, illuminating the rust-coloured metal and the schools of grunts that often mill about the deck. There’s a quiet beauty to this wreck, a sense of history settling in the sand, and it’s always a pleasant surprise to discover some new detail each time we drop in.
