CITY OF CORINTH - Tobago

We often find ourselves drawn to wrecks with a story, and the City of Corinth certainly delivers. Sunk by a U-boat in 1942, this substantial steamship rests upright at 34 metres, making it a proper deep dive. Dropping down, the sheer scale of the 119-metre vessel starts to emerge from the blue. We love exploring the huge cargo holds, now open to the sea, where you’ll often find schools of horse-eye jacks circling inside. Look closely for giant green morays tucked into crevices and the occasional reef shark patrolling the deck. The bow and stern sections are particularly photogenic, with impressive growth of sponges and corals. This isn't a site for beginners; strong currents can sweep over the wreck, so good buoyancy and dive planning are essential. Our favourite time to dive it is early morning, before other boats arrive, when the light penetrates the holds beautifully.
