HOPPER 212 - Tobago

The Hopper 212 might only be at ten metres, but don’t let that fool you into thinking it's a simple dive. We love this site for its sheer character. It’s a dredger, lying on its side, and that angle really changes the feel of the exploration. You can get into the holds, see the machinery rusting in place, and because it’s so shallow, the ambient light just pours in, illuminating the structure. We often find schooling snapper tucked into the shadows, and parrotfish graze on the algae growing on the metal. It’s perfect for divers who enjoy poking around a proper wreck without needing deep specialities. Our favourite time to dive it is mid-morning, when the sun angle catches the superstructure just right. Keep an eye out for moray eels – they’re partial to the nooks and crannies here.
