MABIRI - Tobago

Mabiri isn't the deepest wreck, topping out at 12 metres, but that just means more bottom time to explore. She’s a motor vessel, sunk back in '74, and you can still feel that history when you fin past her. The wreck lies upside down, which creates some genuinely interesting swim-throughs if you're comfortable with overhead environments. We love ducking under the hull, watching the light filter through the gaps, creating these ethereal shafts of light. For a relatively shallow site, Mabiri attracts some serious residents. You'll often find nurse sharks resting in the sand nearby or tucked under an overhang. Look closely at the hull and you'll spot plenty of blennies popping out of the growth, and we've had some great encounters with green morays peeking out from the darker recesses. The lack of strong currents here makes it a relaxed dive, perfect for photographers wanting to capture the light and the wreck’s character. We’d suggest going in the morning, before the dive boats arrive, for the best visibility and a more peaceful feel.
