MM 151 - Tobago

MM 151, a barge sunk back in '74, feels more like a deliberate art installation than an accidental wreck. She lies on her starboard side, 39 metres down, and it's that distinct tilt that gives the dive its character. We love how the angle plays with the light, especially on those sunny Tobago mornings, filtering through the superstructure and creating these really cool shadow patterns. The wreck itself is a substantial 76-metre structure, now completely encrusted with sponges and hard corals. Look closely for the smaller stuff – we always find cleaner shrimp in the crevices and the occasional moray eel peering out. Penetration is out, and frankly, unnecessary; the exterior is where all the action is, with schools of grunts and snapper often circling the raised port side. It’s a dive for those who appreciate the quiet majesty of a large, mature wreck rather than an adrenaline rush, best done on a calm day for maximum bottom time.
