NRC RESOLUTE - Tobago

The NRC Resolute, sunk deliberately in late 2018, offers a completely different vibe from Tobago’s older, more broken wrecks. She’s a 50-meter barge, upright and mostly intact, sitting on the sand at 30 meters. What we love about her is the quick colonisation; it’s like watching time-lapse nature unfold. When we first dived her, she was pretty bare, but now you’ll find schools of jacks circling the bow, barracuda hanging motionless in the slight current, and trumpetfish poking around the cargo holds. Penetration is possible into the wheelhouse and engine room for those with the right training, but even staying outside, there’s plenty to explore. Look for the resident moray eels peeking from pipes and the tiny blennies making homes in crevices. The currents here can be a bit frisky, particularly on an outgoing tide, so we’d suggest timing your dive for slack water for a more relaxed exploration. It’s a site that suits advanced divers keen on seeing a young wreck become a vibrant artificial reef, perfect for photographers capturing that transition.
