W L EUNICA II - Tobago

The W L Eunica II is a proper expedition dive, no two ways about it. We’re talking about a wooden schooner, sunk back in 1970, now resting upright at a solid 50 metres. You’ll need your deep cert and good air consumption for this one, but the reward is a beautiful, ghostly silhouette against the blue. As you descend, the wreck slowly materialises, often draped in schooling grunts and snapper. The wooden hull is largely intact, though time and currents have opened up sections, creating swim-throughs that are just begging to be explored. Inside, you’ll find the ribs of the ship, a skeletal structure that’s become home to plenty of squirrelfish and the occasional nurse shark tucked away in the darker corners. We love seeing the delicate wire corals growing off the mast, swaying gently with the surge. Visibility here can be excellent, and the light filtering down from above gives the whole scene an ethereal glow. It’s a quiet, reflective dive, perfect for those who appreciate history and the slow reclamation of man-made objects by the ocean.
