CASTLE COVE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Castle Cove, now this is a proper Scottish wreck. Forget your deep, dark monsters, the ‘Girl Pat’ sits at a comfortable 10 metres, right in the cove. She was a wooden fishing vessel, went down in '82 after springing a leak, and honestly, the story makes the dive even better. We love how accessible she is; it’s a simple shore entry, a short swim out, and there she is, pretty intact for her age. You can still make out the bow and stern, and the ribs of her hull are fantastic for poking around. It’s not about huge pelagics here, it’s about the smaller stuff. We’ve spent ages watching blennies dart in and out of the cracks, and the anemones that have completely taken over her timbers are a real joy. It’s a photographer's spot, especially on a bright day when the light dances through the kelp above. Our tip: go at high tide for the easiest entry, and keep an eye out for the resident crabs – they’re everywhere. This dive is perfect for newer wreck divers or anyone who just wants a relaxed bimble with a bit of history thrown in.
