CHRISTA - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Christa is one of those wrecks that just keeps giving. This little fishing vessel, only 15.2 metres long, went down off Stonehaven in 1976. We love how intact she is for her age and exposure. Dropping down, you’ll find her upright on the seabed at 34 metres, masts still standing. It’s dark down there, even on a sunny day, so good lights are essential. Visibility can swing wildly, but when it's good, you can make out the bow, the wheelhouse, and her stern section with the propeller. Our favourite part is the engine room access, a tight squeeze for sure, but full of character. We've seen so many conger eels tucked into every nook, alongside plumose anemones waving like ghostly flags from the steelwork. It’s a proper deep wreck dive, cold and often with a bit of a current, so it's really one for experienced cold water wreck enthusiasts.
