CONSTANCE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Constance is a proper piece of Scottish diving history, sitting upright at 27m off Longstone Lighthouse. We love this wreck not because it’s a massive freighter, but because it feels like a genuine time capsule. She was a fishing vessel, only 15.8m long, and when you drop down, you’ll find her largely intact, a bit broken in places but with enough character to keep you poking around for a good chunk of a dive. Think dense kelp swaying above the stern, obscuring the outline until you’re right on top of it. Down on the deck, you’ll spot crab scuttling across the planks, and sometimes, if you’re lucky and the vis is playing ball, a curious seal might dart past, drawn by the movement. Our favourite part is exploring the small hold and superstructure; it’s tight, sure, but the swim-throughs are manageable for anyone comfortable in enclosed spaces, offering glimpses of machinery now completely encrusted with anemones. It’s a dive that rewards slow exploration, letting you soak in the atmosphere of a working boat lost to the North Sea. The vis here can be tricky, so pick a day with minimal swell, and you’ll get the most out of it.
