EAGLE III - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The *Eagle III* isn't for the faint of heart, dropping to 55 metres off the Scottish coast. But for technical divers, it’s a proper adventure. This motor vessel went down in 1977, springing a leak on passage to Bergen before sinking under tow. Today, she lies largely intact, a big, imposing shadow on the seabed. We love the scale of this wreck. At over 50 metres long, there’s plenty to explore, even if the depth limits bottom time. The wheelhouse is a highlight, often still quite recognisable, and we’ve spent many minutes just tracing the deck lines, imagining the crew’s last moments. Look for the resident conger eels, they’re often tucked into the deeper recesses, and the sheer number of plumose anemones coating the structure is always a sight. It’s a serious dive, requiring solid planning and good conditions, but absolutely worth the effort for those with the training.
