Farne Islands - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Diving the Farne Islands usually means one thing: seals. And not just a few, but hundreds of grey seals, curious and playful, often nibbling fins or pulling on hoods. We’ve found the best interactions happen in the shallower parts, around 10-14 metres, where the light penetration is good. There’s no huge coral growth here, as you’d expect off the Northumberland coast, but the kelp forests provide a moody backdrop for the seal antics. It’s a site for beginners, mostly drift dives, and truly a unique experience if you’ve never dived with inquisitive marine mammals before. We'd suggest going in late summer or early autumn for clearer conditions and the most active seals.
