FRANCOISE - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The Francoise isn’t a huge wreck, sitting at just 12 metres long, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in character. Dropping down onto her at 60 metres, you hit the deck of a trawler that went down in 1988. It’s a proper deep dive, so come prepared with your trimix and a solid plan. We love how intact she remains; you can still make out the wheelhouse, the mast, and even the fishing gear. Visibility can be a bit of a lottery out here – sometimes you’ll have a decent 10 metres, other times it’s more like five, with that classic green hue. We’ve had some fantastic encounters with lobsters tucked into every crevice, and the anenomes and hydroids coat the wreck in a fuzzy, colourful blanket. It’s a silent, haunting dive, best suited for experienced technical divers who appreciate the history and the challenge of a colder, deeper wreck. Our favourite part has to be the feeling of uncovering a small piece of maritime history, far from the madding crowds.
