GEIR - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The GEIR wreck, a steamship that went down after striking the Knavistone Rock in 1908, sits at 20 metres. It’s a good spot for divers keen on exploring a piece of history, particularly if you’re comfortable with typical UK east coast conditions. The wreck itself is quite broken up, but you can still make out the general shape of the vessel, with sections of hull plating and machinery scattered across the seabed. Expect to see plenty of local marine life sheltering in the nooks and crannies – we've often found wrasse and blennies making homes in the twisted metal, and the occasional curious seal might even pop by. It's a dive that rewards careful inspection rather than grand vistas.
