HAZARD - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The HAZARD wreck isn't about depth; it's about a scramble. Sunk in 1815, this old sailing ship sits barely below the surface, meaning it’s really more of a snorkel or very shallow free dive. We love it because you can grab a mask and fins and be right on top of history, feeling the surge pull at you as you peer down into the broken timbers. You’ll spot crabs scuttling amongst the ribs and kelp forests waving over what remains of the deck, with small fish darting in and out of the shadows. It’s perfect for a lazy afternoon, especially if you’ve got non-diving friends who still want to get in the water. Go at high slack tide for the clearest views, otherwise, the surge can really kick up the sand and obscure what little is left to see.
