HEROS (POSSIBLY) - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The HEROS (POSSIBLY) wreck is one of those sites that just feels right. We love the mystery around her true identity, adding a layer to an already captivating dive. Lying at 49 metres, she's a dive for experienced deep divers, but the rewards are considerable. We’re talking about a classic torpedoed steamship, snapped mid-section, with a debris field scattered around her that’s ripe for exploration. Our favourite part is poking around the bow, where the damage is dramatic, and the marine life seems to understand the history. Expect to find conger eels peering from every dark recess, their thick bodies almost blending with the rusted steel. The visibility, when it's good, lets you appreciate the sheer scale of the wreck, often around 10-15 metres, but it can drop. We’d suggest a slack water dive for the best experience, as the currents here can be robust. This isn't a site for beginners, but for those who appreciate a deep, historical wreck dive with plenty of character, she delivers.
