HMS Pathfinder - Scottish East Coast & Borders

The HMS Pathfinder isn't your average North Sea dive. While the visibility can be challenging, often a murky green, it’s the sheer historical weight that makes this site truly captivating. We love the feeling of descending onto such a significant wreck, the first warship ever sunk by a submarine. She lies on her starboard side, relatively intact for her age, and you can still make out the distinctive lines of a scout cruiser. Exploring the deck, even with limited visibility, feels like stepping back in time. Look closely in the gloom and you’ll find conger eels peering from every crevice, while ling lurk in the deeper sections. It’s a site for experienced cold-water divers, those who appreciate history as much as the marine life, and who don’t mind a bit of a challenge to earn their dive. Our best dives here have been on slack water, just after high tide, when the current relents enough to really take in the scale of it all.
