HORNBY - Scottish East Coast & Borders

Hornby isn’t about huge fish or vibrant colours, it’s about history, cold water, and the quiet satisfaction of a proper wreck dive. This old trawler, just seven metres down, is surprisingly intact for its age and location. We love how the deck is still discernible, the winch standing proud, and the bow pointing stubbornly towards the surface. What you'll experience here is a tangible connection to the past. The wreck sits in a shallow bay, often meaning decent light even on cloudier days. We’ve spent hours just picking through the debris field around the main hull, finding old bottles and bits of crockery, now home to scuttling crabs and blennies. It’s an easy dive, perfect for newer wreck enthusiasts, or those just looking for a relaxed potter. The resident ling and cod are quite comfortable with divers, often peeking out from behind corroded bulkheads. Our favourite detail is the way the steel has taken on a rusty, textured patina, providing endless nooks for small invertebrates. You’ll feel the chill of the North Sea, but the rewards are in the details.
